INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In advance, assess your group's physical abilities and spotting skills as required for this exercise.
  2. For safety, this exercise requires at least nine people to participate, ie one faller and eight spotters.
  3. Objective: Challenge your group to work together to catch one of their team members as they fall backwards from a platform.
  4. Instruct your group in the proper and most effective manner to fall and catch a participant, ie go to Participant Responsibilities tab for details.
  5. Follow prescribed communication protocols before every attempt.
  6. After catching each fall, carefully lower the faller's feet to the ground to help them return to a standing position.
  7. Honour choice and invite all those who wish to fall to make an attempt.
  8. Process your group's experience at the conclusion of each fall and at the conclusion of the activity.
  9. Next time, try a variation (see below.)
